Business and Emotions, whats the Connection? Lets explore! – Part 1

Hey reader, welcome! I am sure this title must have caught your attention. Ready to dig deeper? Lets get on with it!

What do you think when you hear this word “Business”? Do words like increasing profits, customer satisfaction, goal, mission and growth pop in your mind? Have you noticed how happy we business owners feel when the targets are achieved in business? Thats right! Happiness, satisfaction, success, sense of achievement are the emotions attached to it because we feel them.

But when we incur losses, unable to achieve targets, increased customer complaints, decreasing sale of goods or services, what does it feel like? Stressful, frustrating, fearful and negative, right? No matter how capable we may be to handle these situations, we still feel these emotions and most of the times they persist.

This is exactly how we attach emotions to business. If this is so, then how can we say that business and emotions don’t go together? They absolutely do!

All the emotions mentioned above are just symptoms. The root cause is something else. Let me give you another perspective about business.

See the diagram below:

In this part of the article we are going to talk about Business owners. So lets take below parts of the flow chart into consideration.

Business starts with a single person or group of people having an idea of a service or a product. Business growth depends upon “Business owner’s emotional balance and state of mind”. What does this really mean?

This means, business will grow depending upon business owner’s beliefs and problems.

The common problems include:

  • Growing competition
  • Suppliers are not providing good service or goods
  • Lack of funds
  • Finding, training and retaining skilful employees
  • Fatigue of staying in the current trend
  • Stress of expansion and managing the finances
  • Belief about brand recognition
  • Other partners are not in agreement of the vision and goal
  • Excessive Overheads
  • Borrowing money
  • Uncertainty in sales and demand
  • Risk management and finding
  • Finding repeat customers and retaining them
  • Return on investment
  • Marketing products or services properly reaching maximum audience
  • Problem solving
  • Profitability
  • Rules and regulations
  • Inadequate research and development skills

If you observe your emotions carefully, you will see that each and every problem triggers stress in you. Have you ever thought of what really is Stress? I believe that stress is our reaction to perception. This means we have perception about every problem.

Lets take an e.g. Borrowing taking loan from bank or relatives for business.

If you believe that repaying loan is difficult, it results in doubt in one’s capabilities.

The next question you must ask yourself is “How do I know that I have a self doubt about repayment of loan?”

How this perception is developed in first place? Well, if you have seen similar problems happening to someone in the past or at present or maybe if you have already been though this situation that’s where your perception is coming from. In order to beat this stress you need to clear all the memories and experiences you hold in your mind about this problem.

How can you do it? Its very simple. Why don’t try below given process!

  • Make a list of all the experiences and memories you recollect at that point regarding “Borrowing money”. Don’t struggle too much with it. Write down what you remember.
  • Made the list?
  • Now pick a most disturbing memory from the list.
  • Got it?
  • Use this Simple Tapping Technique for every item in the list. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself and see how it works.

Doing this process will neutralise your stress and bring positive mental attitude towards your business and help you think about solutions instead of replaying the problems in your head.

Delete each and every stressor from your mind that makes you feel stressed and negative. Change your perception by changing the way you hold experiences within. That is the only key to success. No matter how much you have learned about the business, unless you make peace within you, your business will not grow the way you want it to.

Gaining mental power to let go of stress is a huge advantage in this competing world. Not many people do it. Why don’t you try it and stand out from the crowd! 🙂 I did and it has totally ROCKED my business growth!!

Thank you for reading. More exciting information follows in part two. Part two talks about employees and their problems. Keep reading and applying the Simple Tapping Technique for magnificent results in your business 🙂
